The project deals with conversations among Austrian adolescents from a variation-linguistic and pragmatic perspective and delivers analyses of grammatical as well as prosodic phenomena in youth communication. Therefore, group conversations among young people aged from 13 to 19 have been recorded in youth centres in the nine Austrian capital cities as well as in rural towns and villages. Furthermore, group conversations among Austrian adults have been documented. These records build a comparative corpus and allow insights into age-related differences in the language usage of young people in Austria. To be able to linguistically analyse the conversations, the conversations are transcribed and annotated.
